Perth Observatory, located 25 kilometers east of Perth in Bickley, is Western Australia’s oldest observatory. The Observatory has served Western Australia for more than 120 years and remains actively involved in the public outreach and education. Experience their amazing night sky through their wide range of telescopes at their night tours. Their volunteers will take you on a grand tour of the Southern Hemisphere’s sky with a wide range of targets including nebulas, planets and enormous star clusters.
Browse their museum and see historical instruments, meteorite exhibit, astro-photographs and artwork and admire the beauty of the Atlas Coelestis, the first Star Atlas ever printed in 1729 from the work of John Flamsteed, the First Astronomer Royal at the Greenwich Observatory in Great Britain.
The Observatory has partnered with Landsdale Bus Charters to provide fully air-conditioned return bus transfers between the Perth Central Business District and the Observatory on every second Friday of the month. Pick-ups are available from the Bell Tower at Elizabeth Quay and the Crown Casino at Burswood, with other locations possible by prior arrangement.
